U.S. Chamber Calls on President Obama to Sign Keystone Bill

Press Release
February 11, 2015

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In response to the House of Representatives vote today to approve S. 1, the Keystone Pipeline Approval Act, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Energy Institute president and CEO Karen Harbert issued the following statement:

“With final passage of Keystone legislation, Congress has done all it can to urge President Obama to do the right thing and approve the pipeline. Of course, Congress should never have had to even pass this legislation, because the pipeline should have been approved years ago by this administration. Once again, President Obama has a choice—side with the vast majority of the American people, more jobs, and more revenue, or say no to appease a vocal minority who are using this issue to wage a larger fight. It is time for the president to stop holding our economy back and to sign the bill, grant the permit, and greenlight jobs and investment in America.”

The Chamber issued a Key Vote letter in support of S. 1, making it eligible to be included a scorecard for the 114th Congress.
