U.S. Chamber Letter to the Senate on the Green New Deal (S.J. Resolution 8)

Letters
March 25, 2019

TO THE MEMBERS OF THE UNITED STATES SENATE:

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce urges you to reject S.J.Res.8. If crafted as truly implementable legislation, the Green New Deal would turn the American economy upside down, dramatically expand government, and substantially curtail free enterprise.

Specifically, S.J.Res.8 proposes to remake through government edict America’s industrial sectors by eliminating greenhouse gas emissions from all economic sectors in 10 years; a takeover of the healthcare system via a government-controlled single payer; a system of government-guaranteed – and presumably provided – housing; and government-guaranteed employment. All regardless of cost.
