• U.S. Chamber Applauds Senate Climate Solutions Caucus

Press Release
October 23, 2019

WASHINGTON, D.C. —  Marty Durbin, president of the U.S. Chamber’s Global Energy Institute, issued the following statement regarding the formation of the Senate Climate Solutions Caucus:

“We are encouraged by today’s launch of the Senate Climate Solutions Caucus, and congratulate Senator Braun and Senator Coons for their efforts to find practical approaches to address climate change. Finding common ground is critical to making progress, and we hope other Senators will join the effort.

“As a first step, we urge the Caucus to focus on moving a package of bipartisan energy and climate innovation bills that are ready for full Senate consideration. While more will need to be done to meet the climate challenge, these bills represent a strong foundation to address critical technology needs. We look forward to working with Senator Braun, Senator Coons and others who join their Caucus.”

Last week, Durbin testified at a Senate EPW Subcommittee on Air Quality and Nuclear Safety hearing chaired by Senator Braun regarding industry-led initiatives to reduce emissions while driving economic growth. His complete testimony is available here. The Chamber recently announced the formation of an internal Climate Solutions Task Force to review member responses to climate change and help inform future policy considerations.
