NEW YORK, NY — On the heels of the U.N. Climate Action Summit, the Chamber today announced the formation of a new Task Force on Climate Action. The announcement came during a Chamber-led meeting of nearly 30 companies, and climate and energy experts at the Concordia summit.

"As part of our ongoing dialogue with members across every industry, the U.S. Chamber will convene a task force to help us better understand the range of mechanisms, innovations, and internal processes that businesses are employing to tackle climate change,” said Neil Bradley, Executive Vice President and Chief Policy Officer of the Chamber. “This task force will enable us to become smarter about the impact of both existing policies and future proposals on the business community and proactively shape opportunities for the Chamber and our members to address climate change. By establishing this group, the Chamber will have a formal process to continually engage companies across our broad membership on this important issue."

The specifics learned will help the Chamber inform its approach to legislation and other policy proposals. The task force will be open to all Chamber member companies, state and local chambers, and member trade associations. “In addition to the task force, and to further the business community’s advocacy for climate action, the Chamber is supporting passage of a series of bipartisan bills promoting energy and climate technology and innovation,” said Bradley. “This innovation agenda will leverage the billions of dollars being invested by businesses and build on the progress we’ve made over the last several decades.” The U.S. Chamber of Commerce believes business plays a key role in forging solutions that will improve our environment and grow our economy – leaving the world better for generations to come.
