Statement on President's Decision on Uranium Imports

Press Release
July 15, 2019

Christopher Guith, Acting President of the U.S. Chamber’s Global Energy Institute made the following statement regarding the President’s decision on uranium imports:

“Any serious effort to reduce emissions and address climate change must include nuclear energy, so it is vitally important that nuclear fuel trade not be impeded.  That’s why the Chamber vigorously opposed efforts to impose quotas that would drive up costs and make nuclear power less competitive.  We applaud the President for rejecting a quota on imported uranium, and we look forward to working with the new Nuclear Fuel Working Group on ways to reinvigorate domestic mining and foster a stable nuclear industry.”
