Statement on EPA’s Cost Benefit Memorandum

Christopher Guith, acting president of the U.S. Chamber’s Global Energy Institute, issued the following statement regarding EPA Administrator Wheeler’s recent directive on Cost-Benefit Analyses Memorandum.

“We applaud Administrator Wheeler for his efforts to improve the cost-benefit analysis calculations that play a central role in EPA rulemakings. For too long, EPA rulemakings have been plagued by problematic and non-transparent assumptions that contribute to confusing and misleading cost-benefit information.  A more transparent and robust process will enhance public understanding of the scientific and other inputs that drive EPA’s decisions, improve the integrity of the rulemaking process, and lead to better public policy.”
