Resolution of New Yorkers in Support of Shale Energy Development

The following advertisement ran today in the Albany Times Union and the Binghamton Sun Bulletin.

 

The development of America’s shale energy resources has already created tens of thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in government revenue in other states. The production of shale will put people back to work; provide money for schools, public safety and infrastructure; and make America more energy secure. That is why shale works for US, and we are signing this petition.

 

WHEREAS, New York state has suffered from high unemployment of nearly 9%; and

 

WHEREAS, New York has a $2 billion budget deficit, forcing cuts to education and other services; and

 

WHEREAS, New York has vast quantities of shale energy; and

 

WHEREAS, the development of shale would create thousands of jobs and generate millions in new revenue just as it has done in neighboring states;

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that we the undersigned citizens and organizations of New York support the development of shale energy resources.
