Oil will remain important part of Montana energy economy

BILLINGS - An energy conference recently held in Billings showed the opportunities for strengthening the economy and achieving energy independence in the United States.
 
Industry leaders talked about oil, coal, natural gas and renewable energy at Montana Energy 2014.
 
"Energy development represents far and away the biggest opportunities for construction in our state," said Cary Hegreberg of the Montana Contractors Association.
 
The conference highlighted some of those opportunities construction and other businesses.

The Unites States Chamber of Commerce's Institute for 21st Century Energy said oil is just one industry with opportunity.
 
"We're producing more oil than we have in decades," said Karen Harbert, president and CEO of the Institute for 21st Century Energy. "We have more natural gas than we know what to with. We're about to export it. So we're here, we need to capture the opportunity."
 
Harbert said capturing that opportunity could mean more jobs. "The oil and gas industry is hiring more than any other industry in our country right now," Harbert said. "We should be embracing that,"

"This is a national revolution," Harbert said. "It's not one just in North Dakota or Texas. It's benefiting all 50 states."
