Mary Cordes is the Senior Manager of Policy and Strategic Initiatives for the U.S. Chamber’s Global Energy Institute (GEI). She is responsible for leading the chamber’s chemical and toxics policy portfolio as well as managing GEI’s advocacy and campaign work.
Prior to joining GEI, Cordes spent time working for the Chamber’s Executive Office as Manager of Special Projects, working closely with President and CEO and CMO and SVP of Operations. Prior to joining the Chamber, Cordes worked in government affairs at global chemical company Huntsman Corporation and for Representative Kevin Brady (R-TX).
Mary was the recipient of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Shared Purpose Award in 2021. She was recognized by her peers for her outstanding commitment to partnership.
Cordes is a native Houstonian and graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science and from Texas A&M University with a Master of Science degree in energy, with an emphasis on energy policy and financing. She resides in Washington, D.C. with her corgi named Otis.
